Creation of Astrians

I first created Astrains in 2015 as an adoptable species on Chicken Smoothie under the name of Star Catchers. Originally they were the reason behind the 'northern lights,' dropping stardust as they migrate. They've definitely come a long way since then! They have developed a better story, better anatomy and better names. They've gone through 4 different 'versions' and have been updated in 2016, 2017 where i held a lineart contest, 2018, and finally they were moved off Chicken Smoothie and became Astrians.

MelonNoct and owner of Lyric is the one who named them after I decided I wanted to drop the "childish" name of Star Catchers and the subspecies of "Nothern" and "Southern" for something more official and start from new fully. I asked around with some friends for a name relating to stars, given the importance of their lanterns and what was originally and is still deemed "Stardust" a name meaning "Star Maiden" was very very fitting.
Meron through the years
Meron is the first Astrian created and has been around since the beginning! His design has gone through some changes with the revamps but has always remained relatively the same. I made Meron first and developed a species off of him and his lantern. He's remained the mascot for Star Catchers until they were moved off of Chicken Smoothie and a more generic image took his place as the Astrian logo, but I like to think he's still our indirect mascot!
Originally based off a frillback pigeon, his subtly curled fur and striped mane are the few things that have carried on through his revamps.
2017 Meron
2019 and Beyond
As of now, I've made Astrians into a semi-open species! What am I hoping to achieve from this? Well. I've stuck with them for 5 years now as of writing this. I put a lot of thought into Astrians and didn't want to see them and their story waste away on a pet collecting site i don't visit anymore.
I want to share my idea, my species, my brain child whom I love. I want other people to enjoy them as much as I do!
It's a dream come true seeing Meron made into a suit. Even if these guys don't take off, i'm still beyond happy to have gotten them this far! 16 year old me never would have imagined this species i made up would have a full website and suit made of my character done!
